Lubomir LETKO is a Slovak national who has been living by the Atlantic coast since 2012. Having lived in various European countries since 2000, including five years in Ireland, he discovered photography in 2008 and became a self-taught artist.
With a passion for photography that has endured over the years, Lubomir specializes in Black & White photography, particularly in a technique called ‘Daytime Long Exposure.’ By using Neutral Density (ND) filters, he can significantly reduce the amount of light entering the lens, allowing the shutter to remain open much longer than usual. This method captures motion with an ethereal aesthetic, producing landscapes that are geometric playgrounds of beauty with a pale tonality. The monochrome landscapes add a whole new dimension of meaning to each photograph, offering a captivating stillness that deeply engages viewers.
After exploring various facets of photography (landscapes, portraits, macro, etc.), Lubomir fell in love with black and white photos combined with filter use, always in square format, in 2014. This technique allows him to photograph moving water with a kinetic blur effect, reduce the visibility of moving objects, and combine hyper-precision with misty effects. His photographs sometimes lean towards delicate abstraction. While he now offers some square photos in color and very few in rectangular format, his passion for black and white long exposure photography remains unwavering.
Lubomir started showcasing his work in various exhibitions since 2014.
